ORLANDO URBAN FILM FESTIVAL 10TH ANNIVERSARY

Sept. 2: The 10th anniversary of Orlando’s first and only African American film festival honors Lionel C. Martin, who has produced and directed more than 100 music videos and films. Pianist and composer Dunn Pearson Jr. will perform some of those hits in this celebration of Orlando’s independent filmmakers. Sept. 13: Trailblazing Olympic marathon runner Joan Benoit Samuelson is the guest speaker at the  5th annual luncheon and awards ceremony. GLOBAL PEACE FILM FESTIVAL

Sept. 18-24: Celebrate the U.N.-sanctioned International Day of Peace, Sept. 21, and explore the 21st Annual Global Peace Film Festival, which presents a selection of feature and short films at various locations in Winter Park. HAPPY FRIGHTS HAUNTING NIGHTS

Sept. 29-Oct. 31: A dancing bridge troll? A 12-foot-tall jack-o-lantern and a neon light maze? A forest of eyes and fun food and drink? Yes! Leu Gardens is teaming up with the magicians at Creative City Project and Memoir Agency for perhaps one of the most elevated Halloween experiences in town. Choose Happy Frights, beginning at 5 p.m., for the youngsters or Haunting Nights, starting at 7:30 p.m., for friends and families 13 years and up.
