It’s May in Orlando; a month where we celebrate all things mom, Memorial Day, the end of school and the beginning of summer break for so many. If you missed our last Issue, and still need vacation ideas for some summer fun, our Summer Getaways section has amazing Florida resident offers from seven incredible locales.

This month, Orlando magazine invites you to Re-discover Orlando, a town like no other. Explore May’s feature and find out how Orlando’s leaders disconnect and decompress in the City Beautiful by writer Cynthia Van Gaasbeck. Reader favorite Patricia Letakis offers residents a list of 20 Amazing Things to Do in and Around Orlando, or take a more leisurely route and learn about the celebrities who once lived here (and some who still do), test your knowledge on movies filmed in the area (you can do it!), and much, much more. Whether you’re new to Central Florida, or you remember The Bubble Room in Maitland and the Mystery Fun House off I-Drive, take the time to be a tourist in the City Beautiful and beyond.

Later on, we introduce you to the 2023 Orlando magazine Women of the Year; 23 amazing Central Florida women who are making a difference in our community. They are educators, mentors, physicians, fundraisers, entrepreneurs, and individuals who stand up for others. But most of all they are leaders who help keep our community strong. One of our most popular stories each year, the Women of the Year remind us how remarkable Orlando truly is.

For our readers who need Mother’s Day ideas, look no further than our Mother’s Day Brunch-Fest, chock full of recommendations across Central Florida that are sure to please mom. Want something other than the typical “brunch” offered for Mother’s Day? Why not try one of our 20 Creative Ideas for Mother’s Day. From garden strolls, to relaxing spa days, artistic afternoons, or a home tour rich in local history, we have an activity to fit every mom!

Hungry? Brendan O’Connor’s local selections are top-notch. From Beefy King’s amazing beef sandwiches to Sticky Rice’s delicious and memorable shrimp chips, Brendan hits all the best notes in his monthly column.

To our readers and advertisers, as we enter our 77th year of publishing, we want to thank YOU for your ongoing readership, patronage, and support.
