Sloppy Joe’s’ story is the stuff made of legends. First, take its famous opening date: Dec. 5, 1933, the day Prohibition was repealed. At its original location in Key West, the casual destination has been frequented and adored by millions of visitors, including Ernest Hemingway, who encouraged its name change to Sloppy Joe’s. Its most recent location (there’s also one in Daytona Beach) is now open in ICON Park, with a menu that’ll make you want to kick back, nestle in and slowly make your way through the deliciousness. Start with the Sloppy Nachos, chips slathered with its own sloppy joe mix and all the fixins, then head for a Seafood Platter, Fried Shrimp, Mahi Mahi or Baby Back Ribs. Be sure to leave room for a piece or two of the house-made Key Lime Pie, a must-have treat. Sloppy Joe’s’ specialty drinks are great anytime, but we suggest getting your night started with a toast at sunset, a nightly tradition that takes place as the sun goes down. The perfect follow up?
