Orlando Wedding: Small Wedding Venues at Disney Springs

With new safety guidelines in place, engaged couples are opting for intimate celebrations instead of grand gatherings for their Big Day. Two Disney Springs venues show how it’s done.

In Shakespeare’s words, “the course of true love never did run smooth,” and couples have forged a new path to their nuptials with intimate gatherings known now as “micro-weddings.”

These weddings usually have less than 25 guests, including the couple, and are perfect for pairs who don’t want to wait to celebrate their love until things “return to normal.” They still walk down the aisle, have the reception and the extra-special moments of a wedding, but on a much smaller—and safer—scale.

Disney Springs is a unique locale where couples will find a perfect micro-wedding setup at Paddlefish and Terralina Crafted Italian. Both restaurants are outfitted with private or semi-private space and in-house food and beverage professionals to help you toast your marriage. Just add a few of Orlando’s best local wedding vendors, and you have the ingredients for a memorable event.

These two styled wedding shoots are loosely inspired by Disney films and showcase just how beautiful and magical a micro-wedding can be.

Riverboat Romance

With whimsical elements inspired by Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, Paddlefish was the perfect venue for this Southern-style soiree. Set on the rooftop deck of the riverboat-themed, upscale seafood restaurant, the backdrop offered stunning views of Lake Buena Vista and Disney Springs. For added ambiance, a lush floral garland of peonies and seeded eucalyptus was wrapped around the boat railing.

At Paddlefish, the tables and chairs are included with the venue fee, and the room can comfortably seat up to 40 in a socially distanced set-up. The tablescape shown oozes romance with mismatched candles, green garland and a delicate table runner. For the dessert display, a flower wall tied together the tablescapes with the presentation of the single-tiered wedding cake and custom sweets.

To top it all off, a classic brass band provided entertainment, and the bride’s “Tiana” gown from the Allure x Disney Weddings bridal collection perfectly evoked the opulence, panache and elegance of the Jazz Age.

The most romantic scene in Disney’s Lady and the Tramp was the theme for this ceremony at Terralina Crafted Italian restaurant.

The setting provided an intimate atmosphere overlooking sister restaurant Paddlefish and the Saratoga Springs Resort across the lagoon. The floral arrangements, accented by puffs of white hydrangea, cascaded down the lampposts, combining the romance of an English garden with the elegance of an Italian piazza.

The restaurant’s semi-private conservatory recalls the rustic comfort of Italy’s Lake District, with beams that span the towering ceiling and double French doors that make for a dramatic post-“I do” entrance for the couple. Tables were dressed for an intimate group of 12, and the custom stationery and sweets display featured Lady and the Tramp.

One of the best things about a micro-wedding is the personalized attention you can give each guest. For this wedding, a local artist hand-painted watercolor portraits of each guest—a live entertainment experience that doubled as a wedding favor.

After a menu filled with fresh pasta, pizza from the restaurant’s custom brick oven and top-notch Italian vino, the event finished with a striking treat—a navy blue wedding cake and custom-decorated cookies.
