Editor Letter: A Time of Change

While the Christmas holiday season has always been special and dear to my heart, my favorite time of year is Easter.
Perhaps it’s the beauty of our church service, filled with the Easter lilies, which never fail to trigger my allergies. Growing up, our church was always filled to the brim, ladies decked out in their finest along with the obligatory bonnets and the gentlemen looking like, well, gentlemen. Something about the Easter egg hunts, the decorations and the celebration of Easter joy made it my favorite holiday.
It wasn’t until I moved up north that I truly understood the profound experience that is spring; being deprived of sun for months, the lack of vitamin D, the terrain dark and dank. Then came the first yellow bloom of the forsythia; what joy and anticipation that brought to my heart. A new beginning.
