The Center for Health & Wellbeing in Winter Park is where wholeness, fitness and medicine come together to help you achieve your optimal state of wellbeing. This is your healthy place. Here, you’ll find the tools to live healthier and, more importantly, better.

One of those tools for healthier and better living is the Center for Health & Wellbeing’s Community Education Programs. With diverse topics in the categories of Wholeness, Fitness and Medicine, our dynamic programs are open to the public – no membership required – are free or low-cost and are presented in-person or via webinar.

Upcoming CHWB Community Education Programs

Mindfulness and Meditation
Mondays, April 4, 11, 18, and 25, 7 – 8 PM

This four-week program with Meditation Instructor Camille Sacco will introduce you to the concepts of mindfulness and meditation. You’ll learn practical tips and simple tools to transform your home and work life into the state it deserves to be. Each week, you’ll learn a little something different about mindfulness and meditation. Attend one program or all four!

Spring Floral Basket Workshop
Thursday, April 14, 3 – 4 PM

Learn how to become your own florist by joining Emily Bader, professional florist and expert flower show judge, in this program on creating your own spring arrangement. You’ll learn how to prepare flowers using oasis form, how to condition flowers, and how to understand the placement of flowers and greenery using principles of art: rhythm, contrast, dominance, balance, proportion, and scale.

AdventHealth’s Walk with a Doc
Every Thursday, 5:30 – 6:30 PM

Bring your friends or come solo and enjoy a 45-minute walk with a doc through beautiful Winter Park. AdventHealth physicians and health care professionals are on hand to offer support and answer questions you have about your health. It’s a great way to exercise, get connected to reliable health information and meet new friends.

Cooking Classes at the CHWB Nutrition Theatre

As part of our Community Education calendar, the Center for Health & Wellbeing hosts regular small-group cooking classes perfect for all levels of at-home chefs. We work with professional chefs to help you uncover new skills, discover different flavors and expand your repertoire of healthy cuisine, all in a fun and social environment. Eating Healthy to Prevent Acid Reflux (Webinar)
Wednesday, April 13, 11 AM – 12:30 PM

April is Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month. Join AdventHealth for a cooking demonstration featuring Dr. Mari Rivera, MD, a gastroenterologist at AdventHealth, and Chef Edwin, Executive Chef with AdventHealth’s Center for Nutritional Excellence, to learn how you can say goodbye to the burn and start enjoying the foods you love again.

In the Kitchen with Edible Orlando: Fresh Cinco de Mayo Recipes
Wednesday, May 4, 11 AM – 12:30 PM

Authentic Mexican cuisine is full of vibrant, fresh flavors, and can be a healthy alternative to the more calorie-laden meals you find in many takeout dinners. In this live, interactive cooking demonstration, Edible Orlando magazine editor Katie Farmand will showcase healthy, delicious recipes, featuring interesting, unique ingredients and locally sourced items, to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, including Grouper with Salsa Veracruz, Veggie Tacos and Loaded Taco Salad.

Italian Instant Pot Meals
Wednesday, June 22, 11 AM – 12:30 PM

Do you have an Instant Pot sitting in your pantry collecting dust? Are you intimidated to use it? This tool will save you so much time in the kitchen and it really is so easy to use! Join Registered Dietitian and Culinary Medicine Specialist Allison Harrell as she shows you how to use the Instant Pot to make delicious and healthy meals for your family and friends: Italian Salad with Homemade Vinaigrette, Pasta e Fagioli, and Bolognese with Spaghetti Squash Noodles.
